Perfect night: ex-Corinthians, Talles Magno shines with first career hat-trick and leads NYCFC rout

Talles was decisive in his first start of the season, scoring three times in the 5-2 win, and securing qualification in the US Open Cup.

Talles Magno had a special night on Tuesday (14) as he scored the first hat-trick of his professional career.

The former Corinthians striker was the highlight of New York City's 5-2 thrashing of Westchester in the US Open Cup, a result that secured the team's qualification in the single-match round of 16.

Talles Magno stood out in the Open Cup

In his first game as a starter this season, the Brazilian took advantage of the opportunity and decided the match by scoring three times.

The performance reinforces Talles' good start in 2026, with four goals in eight games, numbers that take on even greater relevance in light of his recent history at the club. Once expected to be a key contributor, the Brazilian found himself on loan and back in the country where he was first discovered. Now, under Pascal Jensen, Talles seems to be enjoying himself once again.

Since arriving in New York City for his first stint, the striker has played 108 games, scoring 23 goals and assisting on 11, totaling 34 direct goal contributions and solidifying himself as an increasingly important piece of Jensen's offense.

New York City's upcoming commitments

New York City FC now returns to the field next Saturday (18), when they face Charlotte FC in MLS.

In the US Open Cup, the team is expected to play in the round of 16 the week of April 29.
