In one of the most significant rebuilds in Major League Soccer's history, the New England Revolution has made its 12th addition. The club announced signing 17-year-old defender Damario McIntosh to a homegrown contract. Damario spent last season in MLS Next Pro with the New England Revolution II.
A native of Jamaica, the young player, 5'10", made his professional debut at 16 with the development team. He appeared in 25 games in 2024 and ranked third on the team in minutes played.
Get to Know: Damario McIntosh
The defender, named an MLS NEXT PRO All-Star last year, signed with the first team through the 2028 season with a club option for 2029. He is the fourteenth player from the Revolution Academy to earn a contract with the first team.
"Playing professional soccer has always been a dream of mine, and I am excited to continue my development on and off the field here in New England. I especially want to thank all my coaches, teammates, and family for their unwavering support throughout my professional journey".
In addition to Damario, four other players from the Next Pro team are on the Revs' first-team roster: Payton Miller, Noel Buck, Malcolm Fry, and Jack Panayotou. More recently, the club sold midfielder Esmir Bajraktarevic to PSV in the Netherlands, while Buck spent half a season on loan at Southampton in England.
NE Revolution: Preseason Notes
The club is holding its preseason in Sarasota, Florida, where it defeated Austin FC 1-0 in its first preseason match, although no games will be broadcast. Trying to move past last season, when it finished 14th in the Eastern Conference, the team has already signed more than 10 players in an effort to return to the playoffs in 2025.
The next target is 20-year-old Israeli right-back Ilay Feingol, who is in Boston with his agents to finalize a deal with the Revolution. The player is expected to address the team's long-standing weakness on the right side of the field. Additionally, the Revs still have an open Designated Player slot after trading Giacomo Vrioni to C.F. Montreal for $50k in GAM.
