The Brazilian midfielder scored two goals in FC Cincinnati's draw against Atlanta United and is attracting attention in MLS

Evander tried, by scoring twice for FC Cincinnati, but it wasn't enough in the end for his team to take all three points against Atlanta United, who equalized late on to secure a 2-2 draw in MLS Week 5.

Despite the setback at TQL Stadium, the Brazilian continues to excel in the United States now, playing for Noonan in a Cincy kit. So far, he has five goals and two assists in nine games for his new team.

After the match, Pat Noonan spoke about Evander's impact on the team at the start, and emphasized how efficient the midfielder has been in finding space and finishing.

‘He's a very strong player, especially in the way he scored the second today, and at different times with his ability to get out of pressure and commit and concede technical fouls. He has a very calm way of finding space for himself and his team-mates. So he's been very impactful for us,’ said the coach.

Evander in the Brazilian National Team?

Following the press conference, Pat Noonan spoke about the possibility of Evander being called up to the Brazilian national team in the future:

‘The Brazil national team is very good, I don't know where he currently fits in (tactically) in that conversation, but it would certainly be great for him if he got that opportunity,’ he finalised.

Since arriving in the MLS, Evander has been one of the best players in the league. Last year, when he was still playing for the Portland Timbers, the Brazilian was shortlisted for the MVP award, and although he wasn't elected, he was one of the best midfielders in the United States.

With his two goals against Atlanta United, Evander has now scored 38 goals since the start of last year, placing him second only to Messi (39) among the players with the most goals in the MLS in that period.

Next challenge for Evander's FC Cincinnati

With the draw against Atlanta United, Cincinnati have slipped to 8th place in the MLS Eastern Conference with seven points from five games. The team's next match is on Sunday (30) against Nashville at 9.30pm (Brasília time) in round 6 of the MLS.
