The New England Revolution, currently holding their preseason in Bradenton, Florida, defeated St. Louis City 1-0 this Saturday afternoon (25). This was the Revs' second victory of the preseason. The game was not broadcast to the public; however, live updates were provided through both clubs' social media, and highlights were made available after the match.
Led by Caleb Porter, the team's solo goal was scored by Nigerian midfielder Alhassan Yusuf, who was signed in the second half of the 2023 season. The newly arrived Ecuadorian Leonardo Campana assisted. The goal came after high pressing and a ball recovery at the edge of St. Louis' box by defensive midfielder Matt Polster.
In addition to being the second victory of the season (the first was against Austin earlier in the week), it was also the second clean sheet, with both matches ending 1-0. The only absences from the squad so far are Ghanaian forward Ignatius Ganago, who has yet to join the group, and defender Mamadou Fofana, who joined the team on Friday, the 24th, still needs some more training practices before being listed to play. Porter mentioned in a post-game interview that both players are expected to compete for starting spots in the team.

The head coach mentioned defender Wyatt Omsberg, the pleasant surprise of this period in Florida. The defender joined on a veteran contract and was expected to serve as a backup in the squad, but he has been proving himself capable of much more during these days in Bradenton:

“I have to say, Wyatt Omsberg has been a really nice bright spot, a positive. We're building our depth. He's shown that he's a very good piece, a sneaky piece for us and if called upon he can do a good job. That's important.” - Caleb Porter.

Midfielder Allan Oyirwoth, who just turned 18, is officially joining the squad. Born in Uganda, the player is considered a prospect for his country and has already received two call-ups to the national team before turning 18.

The squad will have four days off and return to training on Thursday (30). Their next match will be on February 3 against the Houston Dynamo. The first game of the regular season is scheduled for February 22 against Nashville SC.
