The New England Revolution has started its preseason, aiming for the 2025 season. After a terrible 2024 year, when the team finished in the bottom positions of the Eastern Conference and lost the regular season points record to Inter Miami in a direct matchup, the Revs team wants to do everything possible to reverse the situation and have a completely different 2025.

As usual, the team traveled to Florida once again for preparation. There, it will stay for just over a month and play five friendly matches against MLS and USL Championship teams, including Connecticut's Hartford Athletic.

The club, led by Brazilian-American Sporting Director Curt Onalfo and head coach Caleb Porter, made 11 additions this off season, including forward Leonardo Campana, acquired for $2,000,000 GAM from Inter Miami CF. According to coach Porter, the club still intends to make at least two more signings before the start of the regular season on February 22.

According to insider Seth Macomber from Blazing Musket, the team is negotiating with 20-year-old right-back Ilay Feingold from Maccabi Haifa in Israel, who would occupy a U22 spot on the team's roster.

In another rumor, the Revs seem to be also eyeing forward Gyasi Zardes. The former USMNT forward has been without a club since leaving Austin FC after an unsuccessful stint, scoring only nine goals in 61 games. The former USMNT forward was coached by Porter at Columbus Crew, where they won the MLS Cup together.

The team's biggest issue now is in the Defensive Midfield position. Currently, the Revs have Matt Polster, the starter for the past few years, who has been criticized by the fans, and the newly arrived Jackson Yueill, who comes from one of the worst teams in the league, the San Jose Earthquakes. These are two players who really need to prove themselves in the upcoming season.

The team is also in an interesting situation at goalkeeper. The starting goalkeeper, Aljaz Ivacic, broke the club's record for goals conceded and had some disagreements with the fans in the last home game last year. With this in mind, the team brought in veteran Alex Bono from D.C. United as a free agent. Although there is no clear indication of who will start in goal, Ivacic is expected to be the starter in the season's early games as long as the coach deems it appropriate.

The club addressed its problem in attack by parting ways with Giacomo Vrioni. The player was traded for $50k GAM to CF Montreal. The Revs then brought in Ghanaian Ignatius Ganago from Nantes in France, winger Luis Diaz from Saprissa in Costa Rica, and the previously mentioned Leo Campana.

The "new" New England Revolution will make their 2025 season debut on February 22 against Nashville SC at Geodis Park in Tennessee.
