Facing Atlanta United, led by attacking midfielder Miguel Almirón, in Georgia and without 10 players available for the match—this was the challenge New York Red Bulls took on this Saturday (8th) at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Week 3 of Major League Soccer.
The 0-0 draw rewarded the strong defensive performance of the Red Bulls, especially goalkeeper Carlos Coronel, who made crucial saves to secure a point in the standings. On Atlanta’s side, it was clear that the team needs to improve its finishing.
The result left both teams with four points in the Eastern Conference standings. New York sits in seventh place, while Atlanta is in eleventh.
Carlos Coronel
Playing his 150th match for New York Red Bulls, the Brazilian-born Paraguayan goalkeeper was heavily tested, particularly in the first half. Between the 14th and 23rd minutes, Coronel made three key saves.

Noah Eile
The best scoring chance fell to defender Noah Eile in the second half, but he missed the target after getting a rebound in the box.
This was the second time in 2025 that Eile squandered a good chance to score. In the season opener against FC Cincinnati, he had another opportunity to find the net but misfired.
Sandro Schwarz Praises Defensive Unit
In his post-match press conference, New York Red Bulls head coach Sandro Schwarz described his team’s defensive display as “top-level” and praised his players for executing their defensive game plan effectively despite multiple absences.
He highlighted the determination of each player throughout the 90 minutes.
