LAFC scored early but let the home team tie the game, minutes after Son Heung-Min scored his first MLS goal for LAFC in the 6th minute via a free kick, giving LAFC an early lead in the heat of Texas.

FC Dallas equalized in the 13th minute with a goal from Logan Farrington, assisted by Patrickson Delgado, after a defensive recovery and lapse from the visitors. Despite LAFC's dominance in possession and several scoring chances, including a disallowed goal by Ryan Hollingshead for offside, neither team could find a winner.
