Kerwin Vargas scored the only goal in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a defensive error by New York's Mohammed Sofo, with an assist from Idan Toklomati.

Charlotte's goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina secured his fourth consecutive shutout, making four saves. Despite New York controlling 60% of possession and taking 15 shots (3 on goal) compared to Charlotte's 4 shots (2 on goal), they couldn’t score, with Emil Forsberg missing a close-range header late in the game.
This victory extended Charlotte FC’s win streak to seven games, the longest in MLS that season, and their unbeaten run to eight.
